Hailakandi woman accuses AIUDF MLA of rape; MLA denies charges

Pratidin Bureau

A woman from Hailakandi has accused AIUDF legislator Nizam Choudhury of rape and attempts to silence the mater by offering her money.

The woman claimed that she was raped thrice; twice at her residence and once at the circuit house in Hailakandi.

"I was raped by Nizam Choudhury and my husband is involved in it. I demand justice or I'll commit suicide. The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA has offered me Rs 5 lakh to withdraw the case," she said on Saturday.

However, Choudhury has claimed that it is a political conspiracy against him and the whole episode is orchestrated to tarnish his public image.

"The allegations are completely false. I myself got to know about this through my friends in media. I have full faith in judiciary. The police will investigate the matter. If proven guilty I am ready to surrender myself," Choudhury told ANI.

A case has been registered against the MLA in Hailakandi Sadar Police Station.
