Pratidin Bureau

Heat wave has swept through Assam and the North East and it will have to wait for at least another 36 hours before getting some relief as rain has been predicted by the Met office only on Saturday afternoon.

Guwahati was 38 degrees on Thursday and on Friday as well it is expected to beat that and move beyond 38 degree, making it certainly one of the highest temperature of the year.

The worst was in Silchar where the temperature had sore to 39.8 degrees. Even relatively cooler place like Dibrugarh recorded 37.4 which was unusually high.

Met office attributed the temperature rise for lack of rainfall activity but added Assam and neighbouring areas would get rain from Saturday afternoon onward and then the temperature would reduce significantly.

With the presence of high humidity, the weather has become more intolerable, claiming life of a person due to heat stroke at Morigaon.
