“Include Assamese language in Tezpur, Silchar Univ.”

Pratidin Bureau

Senior AGP leader Pabindra Deka (MLA of Patacharkuchi constituency) on Thursday during assembly session, pushed for making Assamese language one of the required languages in Tezpur central university and Silchar Assam University as he lamented that Assamese language could not get its desired place in its native land probably due to regional politics.

"Assamese should be made one of the necessary languages for these two universities. Why can't our mother language become one of the compulsory languages in these universities? We got these universities as an outcome of historic Assam accord. Even, Delhi University has Assamese language while in 1919; the Assamese language had been included in Nalanda University, which is an international university. We should make efforts to achieve this goal." Deka added.
