A massive fire broke out at Jorhat on Sunday midnight claiming two lives while several others have been injured. The fire broke out at one business establishment of Singhi Scooters.

The fire spread to four houses for which several persons have injured while many others save their lives by jumping into the Toklai River.

However, fire tenders from Jorhat, Teok, Titabor and Mariani have reached the spot to douse the flame. Fire tenders have also been brought from ONGC and Air Force to douse the fire.

The reason of the fire has not yet identified but locals suspected that it occurred due to short-circuit.
