‘Krishna’ dies of cardiac arrest

Laden alias Krishna, the wild elephant which was tranquilized recently by the forest department has died in captivity on Sunday, officials said.

The Divisional Forest Officer of the Mangaldai Wildlife Division, BV Sandeep said, "The preliminary findings indicate cardiac arrest as the cause of death. However, the detailed post mortem report is awaited."

Laden was tranquilized by a team led by Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika. The elephant had killed five people at Matia area in Goalpara district on a single day.

Later, the elephant was named 'Krishna' and shifted to Orang National Park. It was undergoing treatment in the national park.
