Kumarpara incident: Police yet to arrest the accused

A man identified as Syam Sundar, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Guwahati on Thursday evening.

The gruesome incident took place at Kumarpara near the Athgaon area during the evening where a group of four to five men shot an employee of a private company from a point-blank range. The injured victim was immediately rushed to Marwari Hospital situated in Athgaon area and was later referred to Apollo Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

After receiving information about the incident, the police immediately rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. Looking at the bullet recovered from the deceased's body, police suspected that he was shot by 9 mm pistol. But police unable to get any clue in this regard.

Later after watching the CCTV footage, during their investigation police unable to get any clue and yet to arrest the main accused.

Police detained 13 persons in this regard, but police released them. Earlier also police detained 15 people, but the allegation has been arising that police released them also without any interrogation.
