Man in Jorhat robbed after linking AADHAAR Card with bank

Pratidin Bureau

In a shocking incident of cyber crime, a Jorhat SBI bank account holder has to lose Rs 26 thousand from his AADHAAR linked account.

Cyber criminals have applied modern tactics to rob Tapan Bordoloi of his money, leaving bank authorities confused. Criminals have slipped the amount from Bordoloi's SBI account using an AADHAAR Card.

The incident had taken place on June 17, when the fraudsters had debited Rs 10 thousand twice, then Rs Five thousand and Rs One thousand separately in the evening using a different AADHAAR Card. It is only after the amount had been debited that the incident came into light.

Taking advantage of AADHAAR enable payment system's loopholes and using Biometric system at a customer help centre in Yarragutala, the plan of robbing not only Bordoloi but many others had been executed.

Though the SBI Jorhat Branch has ordered a departmental enquiry, the authorities have been left perplexed by the new tactics applied.

Simultaneously, Bordoloi has registered a complaint against the crime in Jorhat Police. These type of crimes has sent a ripple of panic among the customers of various banks.
