Reports of locals brutally attacking a person named Nilakanta Medhi, who had been accused of a murder, has led to a tensed situation at Koihatipara in Tihu on Friday.

The police had to rush to the scene in order to control the situation.

Nilakanta was declared brought dead by the hospital authorities.

He was accused of murdering his friend Prafulla Kalita, whose body was recovered from the backyard of his own residence.

Reportedly on Thursday night, the Siyalmari residence of the accused murderer was set on fire by the locals.
