NEEPCO accused of polluting Ranganadi

Pratidin Bureau

The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has been releasing water from its Ranganadi Hydro Electric Plant (RHEP) in Arunachal Pradesh's Lower Subansiri from February 9. Local people accused NEEPCO for polluting Ranganadi.

As per reports, the Ranganadi has become so polluted that it become unfit for human consumption.

The water has been released as RHEP remained shut for repair and maintenance work at the tunnel.

Meanwhile, people living in downstream are worrying about flood-like situation if huge volume of water is released abruptly without maintaining the level of volume of water discharged.
