PM urges to popularise festivals including Bihu

As the entire nation is celebrating Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday stressed on the idea of 'Festival Tourism', during his 58th edition of the monthly radio program 'Mann Ki Baat'. PM Modi said that we must try to popularise our festivals and invite people from other States and countries to join the festivities.

"Wemust try to popularise our festivals such as Holi, Diwali, Onam, Pongal or Bihuand it must be our endeavour to ensure that we should invite people from other Statesand countries to join in the festivities. Every State and religion in ourcountry has their own festivals and people from foreign countries have a keeninterest in them," the PM said.

He alsoadded, "Festival tourism has its own exciting attractions globally. India isthe land of festivals that presents immense possibilities for festival tourism."He also urged the NRIs to boost festival tourism in the country.
