Railway employees protest against Govt.

The TinsukiaDivision of Northeast Frontier Railway staged protests on Thursday against Narendra Modi-led BJPgovernment's decision of reviving premature retirement plans for centralgovernment employees who have completed 30 years in service or reach 50 yearsof age.

Hundredsof Railway workers shouted slogans against the government. "This is aconspiracy by the government to eliminate over 1 lakh employees of the nationaltransporter," said an employee of the NF Railway.

It maybe mentioned here that an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training(DoPT) on June 20 notifies that all central government establishments must senddetailed monthly reports of how many central government employees were reviewedand how many were recommended for premature retirement. Those who aredisqualified will be given three-month notice to retire from service.

The protestersalso sent a memorandum to the Railway Minister regarding the issue.
