Silchar-Agartala train services disrupted

The railway communication between Silchar and Agartala has been disrupted pertaining to heavy rainfall and landslide in the Lumding-Badarpur section.

Accordingto reports, more than 10 trains, which commute between Silchar and Agartala, havebeen cancelled.

The incessant rains have led to landslides in Lampur, Jatinga and Haranggajao.

On Friday, a railway track between New Haflong Railway Station and Jatinga Lampur Railway Station had been washed away in the flood waters, effecting Guwahati-Silchar passengers train, which was on its way to Silchar, and had to be reverted to Guwahati.

Hundreds of passengers, mostly daily wage labourers, were compelled to move on their own towards Silchar and Badarpur among 12 other train stoppages.

The rising flood waters which has been topped with incessant rains has adversely affected train services in the hills district.
