Tension at JMCH after patient’s death

Tension broke out at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) on Friday following the death of a patient whose family members have alleged negligence on the part of the hospital authorities.

Bhargav Krishnaterya (21), a TB patient was admitted to the hospital on September 10. The family members of the victim alleged that the patient was left unattended by the senior doctors at the hospital.

The relatives of the deceased started staging a demonstration inside the hospital campus.

Some of the staff members tried to pacify the mob but failed. A heated altercation broke out between the family members of the deceased and the hospital staff members.

As the situation was going beyond control, the hospital authorities informed the matter to the local police station. After being informed, police reached the spot and dispersed the mob from the hospital.
