To enhance the quality of state PWD, Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday distributed 172 Mahindra Bolero ZL X PP+ and two mobile laboratory vans at PWD Convention and Training Centre in the city.

The Bolero ZL X PP+ vehicles have been provided by the state government to the engineers of the department. Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wants that the State PWD needs to be tough with irregular and blacklisted contractors.

The minister has expressed his worry over the fact and says that the department needs to be tough with the erring contractors and no new work orders should be allotted to any of the blacklisted contractors. No new contract should also be given to any contractors whose earlier works are pending and added: "The monitoring of work should be very strict, be it in fields or in offices."

"We lay stress on the quality of works and their time-bound completion. I hope the engineers will also lay stress on these aspects.": Sarma said.

"Try to make the PWD best"- he urged all the engineers and says that "I want to see the department among top departments in our country".

It may be mentioned that soon after taking the charge of PWD, Sarma did warn all contractors of the department against any compromise with the quality of works.
