Twist in Biswanath Chariali beef case

A 48-year-old Muslim man was beaten up and harassed by a mob for allegedly selling beef in Biswanath Chariali on Sunday.

This was followed by one person from the mob that attacked the Muslim elderly man Shaukat Ali has been detained by Assam Police.

Twist in Biswanath Chariali beef case: The market's Mahaldar is a local BJP leader who allowed the said businessman to carry on the beef trade. Ali has been running a food stall in the area for over three decades – as per reports.

CM Sarbananda Sonowal has also directed Assam Police to take strict action regarding it. CM also assured that "All accused will be arrested soon".

In the viral videos of Biswanath Chariali beef case, Shaukat Ali is seen being asked if he was a Bangladeshi, if he has licence and if he had an NRC certificate. After which, the mob was forcing Shaukat to eat pork meat.

Ali, who sustained injuries, was treated in a local hospital in Biswanath district.
