Water crisis hits Guwahati

Pratidin Bureau

The residents of Anil Nagar have been witnessing a perennial water crisis for the past several years.

Together with Anil Nagar, the entire Guwahati suffers from an acute water shortage but it is not because there's not enough water, it's because the government has completely failed to create water supply infrastructure.

The government said that many water supply projects have been sanctioned but people yet to get the running water on taps. That's why, people are forced to purchase water everyday from private suppliers. It may be mentioned that, the existing infrastructure is obsolete and almost defunct.

"We have raised the issue with the local MLAs and other political leaders a number of times, but no permanent steps were taken to resolve the drinking water crisis in the city"- people alleged.
