Woman brought to hospital in bicycle

Pratidin Bureau

At a time, when Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is busy campaigning for his party candidates for the coming Lok Sabha Elections and continuously boasting about his 'success' as a health minister, an elderly woman was brought to a hospital in bicycle.

The woman was brought to the hospital in a bicycle due to unavailability of ambulances in Minister Himanta Biswa-led health department. The incident took place in Sipajhar area.

According to family members of the woman, they dialed Mrityunjoy – 108 Ambulance Service, but the ambulance service gave them no response. Hence family members carried her to the hospital in a bicycle.

The locals have been continuously demanding ambulance facilities, but the health department of the State is far from giving any consent to their necessity. The locals have also complained about the pathetic conditions of the roads.
