Bidyut Kotoky directional Assamese film 'Xoixobote Dhemalite' is all set to hit the movie theatres across the State on February 08, 2019.

The film bagged the Erie International Film Festival, Pennsylvania on Thursday after leaving a significant mark at several national and international film festivals.

Earlier, the film had released in a limited number of theatres in Assam in January this year, and now, Kotoky has decided to re-release the film in the State. "We have been appreciated and acclaimed in different parts of India and abroad. But the film is made on Assam and our people. It really saddened me when we couldn't reach out to enough people here the last time around, due to circumstances beyond our control. So we have decided for a re-release of the film and expect our audience to support and help us in taking this journey forward", said the director.

The film is about a generation which grew up during the turbulent period of 1980s in Assam, how they were affected by the violence and brutality around them, which left an indelible mark in their psyche.

The film casts Victor Banerjee, Nakul Vaid, Naved Aslam, Nipon Goswami, Nikumoni Barua and a bunch of energetic children, and it also marks the debut of model-actress Dipannita Sharma in the Assamese film industry.

Among several awards that the movie has won includes the Best Screenplay award at the Treasure Coast International Film Festival in Florida, it won three awards, including that of Best Film, in the Love International Film Festival, Los Angeles. Other achievements worth mentioning include its selection in the Indian Panorama, IFFI (Goa), and the Best Foreign Language Film award in Hollywood CineFest, LA.
