3 killed as Samaleswari Express catches fire

TheHowrah-Jagdalpur Samaleswari Express caught fire between Singapur Road andKeutaguda after hitting a maintenance tower car in Odisha's Rayagada districton Tuesday. Three Railway personnel, who were engaged in the maintenance towercar, were killed in the accident.

Asper the reports, the accident took place when the engine, the frontguard-cum-luggage van and a general second class coach of the train gotderailed after hitter the tower car.

"The engine caught fire and was detached from the rake," said East Coast Railway (ECoR) spokesperson J P Mishra. "The train and passengers remained unharmed, but three staff engaged in the tower car died," added Mishra.

Meanwhile, the Railways have ordered an inquiry into the incident.
