BJP Won’t form Maharashtra govt.

Pratidin Bureau

High drama unfolded on Sunday evening as Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil announced that the party has informed Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari that it does not have the numbers to form the government.

The party asked former ally, Shiv Sena, to go ahead and form the government with NCP-Congress. He accused Uddhav Thackeray-led party of insulting people's mandate.

Chandrakant Patil of the BJP has further said, "The mandate was given to us (BJP-Shiv Sena) to work together. If the Shiv Sena wants to disrespect it and form a govt with Congress-NCP then all our best wishes are with them."

All eyes are now on the Shiv Sena, and whether it can successfully stake claim to a government minus the BJP. However, considering the numbers, the task will be an uphill one. It remains to be seen if Congress sticks to its stand of not allying with the Shiv Sena.
