Chandrayaan-2: Vikram’s gets closer to landing

After the successful separation of the advanced moon lander Vikram from Chandrayaan 2 orbiter on 2nd September, now it is going to make its first in orbit manoeuvre around the moon by 9:45 pm today.

Reportedly, India's most ambitious space mission, Chandrayaan 2 is expected to make its first in orbit adjustment likely to make its first in orbit adjustment likely between 8:45 – 9.45 am IST.

This will lead one step closer to the soft landing of landerVikram and rover Pragyan on the lunar surface on September 7.

On 1 September, the Chandrayaan 2 completed its final andfifth orbit-lowering manoeuvre, bringing it to an almost-circular orbit of 119x 127 km around the moon. Now, the lander is orbiting at an identical 119 x 127km elliptical orbit to the orbiter.
