Two Indian high commission officials were abducted by Pakistani agencies on Monday morning in Islamabad. After a day of interrogation and torture, they were released in the evening.

The two officials were abducted by 15 armed men from a petrol station in Islamabad, tortured for hours, and framed for a road accident before being released.

Furthermore, on releasing them the officials have been accused of carrying fake Pakistani currency of Rs. 10,000. Indian authorities have denied these allegations. On Pakistani agencies being questioned for the abduction, the agencies' officials stated.

"The abductors, who we believe were from Pakistan's ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence), repeatedly told them this is the treatment that would be meted out to other mission officials as well in future," a government source said as reported by a daily.
