India heading for a humiliating defeat in the Lord’s Test

Pratidin Bureau

India is heading for most humiliating defeat of recent times as they are reeling at 66/6 when the rain stopped the play of the fourth day of the Lord's test match.

With Stuart Broad rattled the Indian top order, the rain only prolonged the agony of India as the much fancied Indian batting line up once again catapulted before the Broad-Anderson duo.

This is the 4th innings in a row in two matches where India meekly surrendered and exposed how much they were ill prepared for English condition.

This morning resuming at 357 for 6, England added 39 run and declared the innings at 396 leaving India to score 289 to avoid innings defeat. Chris Wokes remained not out at 137.

India seemed to be in hurry to surrender the match as Murli Vijay survived only eight balls and opened the gate as the Indian batsmen made a procession back to the pavilion.

There were no resistance as Broad and Anderson took care of each of the Indian batsmen. Chateswar Pujara and Virat Kohli did try to put up some resistance but both of them perished at 17. When rain stopped the play, Ashwin and Hardik Pandya were at the crease.

Score in Brief :

India : First innings 107 & 66/6
