Manju Rani Enters Final at AIBA WWBC

India's Manju Rani entered final at the AIBA WomenWorld Boxing Championships on Saturday after defeating Chuthamat Raksat ofThailand in women's 48 kg category in Ulan Ude, Russia.

Sixth seed Manju assured herself at least a silvermedal by her maiden appearance in the event as she thrashed her Thai opponent4-1 in the last four.

Earlier in the day, six-time world champion and India legend MC Mary Kom had to settle for a bronze medal after she lost in the semi-finals of the women's 51kg category.

Mary Kom lost 1-4 in the semis against BusenazCakiroglu of Turkey to win her 8th medal at the World Boxing Championships,making her the most successful boxer of all time – male or female – in thecompetition's history.

Mary has won 6 golds, 1 silver, and 1 bronze so far in her career.

Later in the evening today, two Assam women boxers will be in action.

Jamuna Boro will be up against top seed and formerAsian Games bronze medallist Huang Hsiao-Wen of Chinese Taipei while, LovlinaBorgohain's opponent is China's Yang Liu, who shocked top seed Chen Nien-Chinin the quarters.
