Facebook under scanner for sharing data with Chinese companies

Pratidin Bureau

Social media giant Facebook has come under scanner for providing privileged access to its API to Chinese companies.

The companies include Huawei, Lenovo, Oppo and TCL.

Facebook, however, has asserted that the data it shared with the companies was not abused. "The information from partnerships with Huawei was stored on the devices and not on the Chinese smartphone maker's servers" Facebook added.

Facebook also said that the partnerships were made so that the smartphone makers could build custom versions of the app. The social network has said that it would end its relationship with Huawei by the end of this week.
