Facebook wants to ensure protection of integrity of elections: Zuckerberg

Pratidin Bureau

Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that he wants to ensure the protection of integrity of elections.

In a joint hearing of the US Senate Judiciary and Commerce committees, Zuckerberg said that several important elections are scheduled this year in countries like India, Hungary and Brazil and his company wants to ensure the protection of the integrity of these elections.

Zuckerberg's testimony comes amidst the controversy over the alleged hijacking of data of millions of Facebook users by British firm Cambridge Analytica.

Zuckerberg has apologised for his company's errors in failing to protect the personal information of its users.

He also informed that Facebook is cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller in its investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 US Presidential elections.
