B’desh: Train topples into canal as bridge collapses

After a bridge collapsed in Bangladesh on Monday, a train travelling across it toppled into the canal below killing four people and injuring another 100.

The incident, in which many were reportedly trapped, had taken place at Kalaura, which is 300 kilometres from Dhaka.

According to officials, a part of the bridge collapsed as the express train went over, sending five cars crashing to the ground, with one of them landing in the water.

Locals hekped the fire and police teams to recover the dead and rescue injured out of the wreckage,said officials. The injured had been rushed to a nearest hospital in Sylhet.

Train services from Dhaka to the northeast had been disrupted due to the accident.
