Putin, Trump eager to visit each other’s nations

Pratidin Bureau

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly invited United States President Donald Trump to visit Russia and is also himself ready to visit the United States of America.

President Putin was quoted saying at the BRICS summit, "We are ready for such meetings, we are ready to invite President Trump to Moscow. He has this invitation already and I told him about it."

Subtly refuting Putin's statement, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement that Trump was "open to visiting Moscow" but hinted that he is yet to receive a formal invitation for the same.

On Friday, Putin had praised Trump at the BRICS summit, saying that the US President always wants to keep his promises to his voters, adding that his meeting with Trump in Helsinki was useful.

Recently, Trump had asked John Bolton, his national security advisor to invite Putin to Washington DC for a second summit.
