Assam: AASU Stages Protest Against CAB
The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has staged protests against Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) across the state and threatened the government to withdraw the decision of implementing CAB.
AASU President Dipanka Nath said that they will not accept CAB in any circumstances. He also warned Union Home Minister Amit Shah and asked him to refrain from playing with the sentiments of the people of Assam and other states of Northeast.
According to the clauses of Assam Accord, all foreigners who came to Assam after March 24, 1971, should be detected and deported irrespective of religion and that AASU would not allow violating the rules.
AASU said that CAB would pose a threat to the political rights, language and culture of the indigenous people of the state along with the rest of the Northeastern region.
