Assam CM meets Rajnath Singh in New Delhi

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and discussed several issues related to construction of roads at inter-state border areas and modernization of the police force.

Apprising Singh about the importance of improved roads at inter-state borders of Assam along Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Sonowal urged him to take up expeditious measures.

The Chief Minister also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving special emphasis on improving the condition of border roads and expeditious execution of Indo-Bangladesh border fencing works.

Progress of erection of fencing at the Indo-Bangladesh international border, technological solutions at riverine areas and erection of smart fencing in the border districts of Cachar, Karimganj, Dhubri and South Salmara were also discussed during the meeting.

The Home Minister assured Sonwal that he would review the matter next month with all stakeholders. He also directed all concerned departments to submit detail report on the same.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officials were also present at the meeting.
