Sunil Kalita (Resident of Kamrup district) of 209 COBRA battalion who sustained serious injuries during IED blast caused by Maoists in Saraikela district, Jharkhand on May 28 and was under treatment at Trauma Centre AllMS, New Delhi since June 4 has breathed his last on Thursday night at 7:40 pm.
Fifteen personnel have been injured in the IED attack. The incident took place in Kuchai area of Saraikela on May 28 around 5 am. Troops of the 209 CoBRA force and Jharkhand Police were targeted during a special operation. The joint team was being led by the 209th battalion of the CoBRA of the Central Reserve Police Force deployed in the state for anti-Naxal operations.
COBRA is a specialised unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) of India proficient in guerrilla tactics and jungle warfare.
