The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested one more involved in the Barpeta Insurance Scam . The arrested has been identifies as Madhusudan Thakuria who is a Life Insurance Corporation( LIC )agent. The SIT team arrested Thakuria from Sarthebari in Barpeta district on Monday probing the multi-crore insurance scam.
Thakuria made an insurance against a deceased named Nawab Ali of Jonia.
Insurance scams running into crores of rupees and over several years has been exposed in Barpeta district with ten arrests made in a multi-crore insurance scam case so far.
A doctor was arrested by the Barpeta police in connection with the sensational 500 crore insurance scam on September 29th. The arrested doctor is Dr Nurul Islam of Barpeta's Baghbar Mandia model Hospital. Dr Nurul Islam declared a person named Moinuddin Amhed dead on Aug 4th 2016 and claimed an insurance.
The insurance scam gang to lodge insurance claim manipulated and managed Police personnel, Govt. Officers including employees of Medical Record Department , Insurance Agents, Insurance Employees , Doctors, Gaon Burah, Asha Workers under Primary Health Centre(PHE)/ Community Health Centre(CHE) at rural level, Bank official , Employee of Postal Department etc.
