The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested one of the three main more accused and a women in the in Barpeta Insurance Scam who illegally bought life insurance policy in the name of a dead person by forging autopsy reports.
The arrested have been identified as Ayan Ali alias Ainal and Parimala Begum. Ayan, one of the main accused of the Barpeta Insurance hails from Jonia's Gobindapur. Police arrested the accused probing the multi-crore insurance scam.
Accused Parimala Begum made an insurance against her deceased husband and collected Rs 8 lakh.
Parimala Begum along with a few insurance agents and brokers made insurance policies against many deceased persons. She also submitted fake death certificates of her husband named Sabed Ali and collected money.
Till now 14 people have been arrested in connection with the insurance scam.
It is to be mentioned that two main accused of the multi crore scam namely Manik Ali and Abu Bakkar are still missing.
The insurance scam gang to lodge insurance claim manipulated and managed Police personnel, Govt. Officers including employees of Medical Record Department , Insurance Agents, Insurance Employees , Doctors, Gaon Burah, Asha Workers under Primary Health Centre(PHE)/ Community Health Centre(CHE) at rural level, Bank official , Employee of Postal Department etc.
