Bianca Andreescu has become the first Grand Slamchampion from Canada after defeating Serena Williams by 6-3, 7-5 to clinch the USOpen title on Saturday (local time). She has also become the first teenager towin a Grand Slam title in 13 years.
Andreescu did not allow Serena to get any momentum inthe first set and wrapped up the first set 6-3. The second set was closelyfought but Andreescu ended up winning it by 7-5 to clinch her maiden Grand Slam.
It may be mentioned here that this was Serena's secondUS Open final defeat in a row. Last year, she was defeated by Naomi Osaka ofJapan.
