The BJP, around midnight, has announced its third list of candidates. From the Tezpur constituency the party has named MLA Pallab Lochan Das for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
It may be noted that Tezpur will go polling in the first phase of LS Elections.
Out of 36 constituencies that have been declared at midnight only one constituency of Assam has found its place in the list. However, candidate for Nagaon is yet to be declared.
Earlier, we have seen that NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma expressing his desire to field from the Tezpur constituency, however, the centre thought it best to let him concentrate in the development of the Northeast rather than contesting for LS seat.
Seemingly BJP general secretary Ram Madhav had talked Sarma out of wanting to contest from Guwahati and deciding on Tezpur. Finally Queen Ojha had been named for the Guwahati seat.
