Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Citizenship Bill in the Lok Sabha today amid protests in Assam against the bill.

Sonowal said that it was a commitment since 1980. “I believe through this bill that we are going to protect the religiously persecuted six minority communities Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis,” said Sonowal.

He said that the bill will definitely ensure citizenship to those sections of people. I believe this will definitely solve the long-standing problem, the CM said.
