Cachar becomes open defecation free district

The Cachar district has become open defecation free (ODF), Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan said while addressing people of the district on at the closing ceremony of cleanliness campaign 'Swachhata hi Seva'.

A total number of 1,36,441 individual household latrines (IHHLs) were constructed across 1015 villages under 15 blocks of the district.

On the other hand, the district administration provided a new van for garbage clearance through the State Bank Of India.

As a mark of paying our tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary, drivers and staff of the conservancy wing of local civic board had been felicitated for their contribution and dedication towards keeping the city clean.

The deputy commissioner also congratulated the officials and employees of the public health engineering department (PHED) for their efforts in making the district ODF
