The students of Cotton University have staged a protest on Tuesday midnight and burnt the effigy of Union home minister Amit Shah.
The students’ said, “Amit Shah challenged the people of the state to bring the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and we challenge Amit Shah that they cannot bring CAB in the state.”
The students’ of the university also burnt the effigy of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and protested by raising slogans against the government.
It may be mentioned that the Union Cabinet is likely to pass the bill on Wednesday.
Sources also informed that the Union Minister is likely to introduce the contentious CAB in the Rajya Sabha on December 5 and likely to be passed by the Upper House on December 6. Also, the bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 9 and likely to be passed by the Lok Sabha on December 10.
