COVID-19: India third worst-affected nation, overtakes Russia


With around 25,000 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the biggest daily spike since the outbreak started, India has now overtaken Russia to become the third worst-hit nation by the pandemic.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the country has crossed 6.9 lakh cases according to the tally published on Sunday even by a news agency. The number of deaths stood 19,268. Russia as on Sunday had recorded 6.8 lakh cases.

India recorded the third-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world after the United States and Brazil, according to the data released by John Hopkins University. The US has more than 28 lakh cases, while, Brazil has over 15 lakh cases.
