COVID-19 Jorhat: Two doctors test positive

In a major update, two doctors of Jorhat Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) creating panic amid the medical professionals and patients.

One of the doctors Altaf Ali Ahmed is an assistant professor in the surgery department and the other doctor is Sweta Sangma, an intern.

The girls' hostel and the surgery and anesthesia department of JMCH have been declared a containment zone.

The doctors, nurses, paramedics and other staff who came in contact with both the doctors have been kept under medical observation.

After returning from Guwahati, Dr. Ahmed's swab samples were collected, while he kept attending patients. On Monday, Ahmed even conducted a surgery which has raised concerns. After submission of the swab samples, the suspected patient is to stay in isolation. This negligence can lead to mass transmission of COVID-19.
