Cow theft Rampant in Indo-Bangla border

The Indo-Bangla cattle smuggling syndicate is rising at an alarming rate over the past couple of days. The Section 144 imposed in Indo-Bangla border in Karimganj district has helped the cow-lifters to steal cattle from Assam.

The cattle lifters are easilyentering Assam by the Patharkandi Indo-Bangladesh border and stealing thecattle from the locals in the area. However, the BSF or the police have nottaken any preventive measure to control the cow-lifting incidents in the area.

Earlier in a report, we havepublished that in a cruel method to smuggle cattle along the India-Bangladeshborder, the smugglers have started booby-trapping.

It may be mentioned here thatEid-ul-Zuha is fast approaching (likely to be on August 12) and demand forcattle has increased in Bangladesh. The demand has increased at an alarmingrate as the cost per cattle head has gone upto Rs. 1.4 lakh ahead of theEid-ul-Zuha.
