The Indo-Bangla cattle smuggling syndicate is rising at an alarming rate over the past couple of days. The Section 144 imposed in Indo-Bangla border in Karimganj district has helped the cow-lifters to steal cattle from Assam.
The cattle lifters are easily entering Assam by the Patharkandi Indo-Bangladesh border and stealing the cattle from the locals in the area. However, the BSF or the police have not taken any preventive measure to control the cow-lifting incidents in the area.
Earlier in a report, we have published that in a cruel method to smuggle cattle along the India-Bangladesh border, the smugglers have started booby-trapping.
It may be mentioned here that Eid-ul-Zuha is fast approaching (likely to be on August 12) and demand for cattle has increased in Bangladesh. The demand has increased at an alarming rate as the cost per cattle head has gone upto Rs. 1.4 lakh ahead of the Eid-ul-Zuha.
