In an unfortunate incident on Wednesday, an 11-year old girl was electrocuted to death after she stepped on a high powered electrical cable in Naohalia of Duliajan.
The victim was identified as one Sonali Gupta who was a resident of Borguri village no 1.
The incident happened when the young girl was on her way to her home when she stepped on a electrical cable lying on the road and died.
A heated situation erupted due to her death with locals and villagers protesting against the power department demanding compensation to the victim's family.
Police have reached the spot to bring the situation under control.
