Editors of 21 regional media houses meet CM Sonowal to discuss Citizenship Bill

In an important development today at Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal chaired a meet with 21 editors of all the leading print and electronic media houses of the region to discuss the recent situation owing to implementation of Citizenship Bill in the State.

All the editors have kept their views and opinions in front of the CM and have strongly opposed the Citizenship Bill. The editors have urged the CM to not break the State's believe and trust on him in protecting the interest of indigenous people.

Following the meeting, CM Sonowal has assured that no step against the interest of the people of the state will be taken on Citizenship Amendment Bill. He also informed that discussions with senior citizens and intellectuals will be held on the sensitive issue.

Sonowal asked the people of Assam to keep faith on the government and said if Assam's interest is compromised, there's no point of him being the people's CM. "I won't hurt the sentiments and interest of the indigenous people," he added.
