The Karimganj police on Sunday detained former Deputy Commissioner of Karimganj, Pradip Kumar Talukdar from his Guwahati residence in connection to the multi-crore Sutarkandi land port scam.
Talukdar including Cachar District Development Commissioner (DDC) Nabarun Bhattacharjee on August 8th, 2019 were placed under suspension in connection to the scam. The duo were issued a notice under Section 41 of the CrPC on August 5th, 2019 and were asked to appear before the police.
It may be mentioned that a huge plot of land was purchased for the construction of an immigration check post at Sutarkandi land port along the Indo-Bangla border. As per allegations, the accused embezzled crores of rupees as they purchased several plots of land through fake land documents.
