The Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) from Assam's Golaghat district has been arrested for alleged connection with illegal sand syndicate in and around the area.
The ACF, Prafulla Chandra Lahkar, has been arrested on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in Doigrong Sandmahal scandal by Assam police's Bureau of Investigation (Economic Offences) (BIEO).
The BIEO were tracing the development in the illegal sand scandal and corruption in the area which is believed to be around Rs 80 lakh in total.
Till now, 10 government officials have been arrested in connection with the case.
