Google will invest an additional amount of Rupees 75,000 crore to help accelerate India's digital economy.
This was announced by Google CEO Sundar Pichai today. He further asserted that the company was "proud" to help support PM Modi's vision for India.
He further added that the fund would be used over the next five to seven years through equity investments and tie-ups.
The Indian-origin CEO of Google tweeted, "Today at #GoogleForIndia we announced a new $10B digitization fund to help accelerate India's digital economy. We're proud to support PM @narendramodi's vision for Digital India – many thanks to Minister @rsprasad & Minister @DrRPNishank for joining us."
Earlier today, PM Modi took to twitter to inform that he had an "extremely fruitful interaction with Sundar Pichai.
The PM tweeted, "This morning, had an extremely fruitful interaction with @sundarpichai. We spoke on a wide range of subjects, particularly leveraging the power of technology to transform the lives of India's farmers, youngsters and entrepreneurs.
