The Assam Police on Thursday detained Jahnabi Saikia Das and ‘self-proclaimed’ pro-talk ULFA member Pranamoy Rajguru in connection with the blast near Guwahati Central shopping mall in Zoo Road on Wednesday evening.
Both of them were detained following hours of interrogation by a team of Assam police in Jahnabi’s residence in Guwahati’s Panjabari area. Police recovered a 9MM pistol, 35 rounds of live bullets, 40kgs of explosive materials and ULFA flags from her house.
Jahnabi has been living in the house as a tenant from last 10 days. She hails from Amulapatti area in Sivasagar district. The police have said that Jahnabi was in a close link with ‘self-proclaimed’ pro-talk ULFA member Pranamoy Rajguru. Pranamoy used to often visit her house. However, ULFA sources denied Pranamoy to be involved with their organisation and termed him as a ‘fake-ULFA’.
Meanwhile, speaking to media after detention, Pranamoy said, “Our fight will continue. May our struggle long live. The government should know that these activities will continue.” He also maintained that the woman is his relative.
On the other hand, Jahnabi refrained herself from answering any questions by the media.
