The Assam state cabinet on October 21 approved a 25 percent increase in bus fare. As per the new table, the minimum fare of city buses will be Rs. 8 (previously Rs. 7) and the maximum fare would be Rs. 27

It is to be mentioned that earlier, the All Assam motor transport association (AAMTA) announced to increase the fares to 40 percent owing to the hike in fuel prices. However, later the association and the state government arrived at a compromise which saw bus fares to be increased by 25 percent from the current price.
