The State government will constitute a core committee to control the price rise of essential food items including vegetables in the Kamrup Metro District.
The core committee will be headed by the Additional Chief Secretary of Food and Civil Supply Department Syeduddin Abbasi.
The members of the committee will include the DC, Commissioner of Police, CEO of the Marketing Board and Transport Commissioner.
This was informed by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during a meeting held today at the Assam Administrative Staff College with different commercial organizations.
The meeting, which was held in view of the rise in the price of essential food items during the lockdown, was attended by Kamrup Chambers of Commerce, Vegetable Wholesalers Association, Fruit Wholesalers Association and Agriculture Marketing Board.
Under the core committee's guidance, flying squad will be formed to monitor the different areas selling essential items.
