Hemoprava Devi alias Mukti is the new surprise package of Congress in Assam as her sudden rise to the reckoning for the Mangaldoi seat, bypassing almost a dozen Congress leaders who spent almost half of their life in nurturing the constituency, has taken the Assam Pradesh Congreve Committee(APCC) bigwigs completely by surprise.
The businesswomen, with a back ground in ULFA as well as several social organization and Asom Xahitya Xabha is not a Congress member yet but she was picked up Congress state in charge Harish Rawat and made even Rahul Gandhi to take note of.
"Those who are in the struggle of Assam real interest know me well what me and my family have sacrificed in last thirty years for the cause of Assam. i shall not say anything more for myself" said said with a confidence adding that Bodo radical groups and Koch Rajbongshis have popular support behind her.
But the Congressmen of Assam are completely take aback by her meteoric rise to be a very serious contender for Mangaldoi Lok Sabah seat by-passing likes of Dwijen Sharma or Madhab Rajbongshi.
But she almost forced out Bhubaneshwar Kalita from Mangaldoi and as a result Congress had to make a last minute change of heart for Guwahati dropping the selected senior Lawyer Kamal Narayan Chaudhury. He felt humiliated and announced his disinterest to Contest.
Ms Devi alias Mukti is a successful businesswomen with man management business in Indian Oil Corporation(IOC).
